Windows on a barrier island take more abuse than windows anywhere else in the county. Salt spray, direct sun, and wind-driven rain work on the glass, the seals, and the hardware year round.
Atlantic Window Repair Inc. has handled window and glass repair on the island and across Palm Beach County since 2020. We are licensed and insured. Our in-house master technicians do the work.
In most cases we replace the glass and leave your existing frame in place. On older and architecturally distinctive properties, that is usually the only way to keep a window looking the way it was built to look.
What Salt Air Does to Windows Here
Properties on the ocean and along the Intracoastal see the same failures over and over.
- Aluminum frames pit and chalk on the exposed elevation while the sheltered side still looks new
- Insulated units lose their seal early, then fog permanently
- Hardware seizes as salt works into balances, rollers, cranks, and locks
- Perimeter sealant dries, shrinks, and lets water past the frame
- Screens corrode at the bottom rail and pull away from the spline
None of that means the window has to be replaced. It means the failed part has to be found and dealt with before it takes the rest of the assembly with it.
Glass We Replace
The right glass depends on the opening, the frame, and the exposure. On this island, exposure usually decides it.
- Single-pane glass in older frames, cut to match the existing profile
- Insulated units where the seal has failed and the view has fogged
- Laminated glass, which cuts outside noise as well as holding together when it breaks
- Impact-rated glass for oceanfront and near-ocean elevations
- Obscure, tinted, and low-E glass matched to what is already in the opening
The full range is covered on our glass replacement page, with hurricane impact glass and foggy window repair handled as their own services.
