Commercial Door Glass Replacement

Most broken commercial doors do not need replacing. If the frame is straight, only the glass comes out.

Commercial door glass comes in three grades, and the one you need depends on the door and the opening.

  • - Tempered. The standard for commercial doors. It breaks into small blunt pieces instead of shards.
  • - Laminated. Two sheets bonded to a clear interlayer. It holds together when it cracks, so the opening stays closed.
  • - Impact-rated. Laminated glass in a reinforced frame, built for storm exposure. Ordered to spec rather than cut on site.

We measure on the first visit, order the panel, and install it. If the door cannot be secured in the meantime, our emergency board-up service closes the opening the same visit.

Business Glass Door Repair: What Usually Fails

When a commercial door stops working, it is almost always one of a short list of parts. Most of these are fixed in a single visit.

  • - Door closer. The arm at the top. When it fails, the door slams, drifts, or stops closing all the way.
  • - Hinges and pivots. Worn pivots let the door sag, which is why it starts catching on the threshold.
  • - Locks, latches, and panic hardware. The most common call. The latch and the keeper stop lining up and the door will not lock.
  • - Glass panel. Cracked, shattered, or scratched past the point of polishing.
  • - Frame. Bent, spread, or racked out of square, usually after an impact.
  • - Weather seals and thresholds. Worn sweeps let water, air, and insects under the door.
  • - Automatic operators. Sensors, motors, and controls on automatic swing and slide doors.

If the door is genuinely past repair, we say so and quote the replacement instead of stretching a fix that will not hold.

Door Types We Work On

Three materials cover almost every commercial door in South Florida.

Aluminum is the default. It is light, it resists corrosion in salt air, and it accepts clear, tinted, laminated, and impact-rated glass. Most retail, restaurant, and office doors here are aluminum framed.

Full-glass doors are mostly glass with minimal framing. Retail and hospitality spaces use them for visibility. They are heavy, and both installation and glass repair need careful handling.

Steel doors, usually hollow metal, go where security matters more than looks: back-of-house entrances, utility rooms, and service corridors. They need reinforced frames and heavy-duty hardware.

We also handle the commercial entry door as a whole system, frame and hardware included, through our new door installation service.

When Replacement Is the Right Call

We quote a new door when repair will not hold. That means:

  • The frame is bent, corroded through, or racked out of square
  • The door is an obsolete system with no parts available
  • Storm or vehicle impact has damaged the structure, not just the glass
  • The opening is being reconfigured as part of a build-out

Full unit installation covers aluminum, full-glass, steel, and impact-rated doors, manual or automatic.

Emergency Door Repair in Boca Raton

A commercial door that will not lock is not a next-week problem. Break-ins, storm damage, and vehicle impacts leave the property open to theft and weather.

Our trucks carry board-up materials, temporary security hardware, and common door parts. We secure the opening first, then assess the damage and give you options.

Scheduled work runs Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM, and Saturday, 10 AM to 2 PM. For urgent situations outside those hours, call us and we will tell you what we can do.

Impact-Rated Storefront Doors

Impact-rated doors use laminated glass in a reinforced aluminum frame, engineered to take windborne debris without the opening failing.

Whether your property needs one depends on its location, its wind zone, and the scope of the work. Those rules vary by municipality and building type, and your local building department is the authority on what applies to your job. We install impact-rated storefront door systems and can walk you through the options for your opening before you commit to anything.

Storefront Glass Beyond the Door

The door is one part of a storefront. Fixed glass panels, transoms, office windows, and interior partitions fall under commercial glass repair, and impact glazing on commercial openings runs through hurricane impact glass replacement. Scratched or etched glass sometimes comes out through glass polishing rather than a replacement panel.

On the residential side, patio sliders are covered by sliding glass door repair, and lock and latch failures by sliding door lock repair.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you replace just the glass in a commercial door?

In most cases, yes. If the aluminum or steel frame is intact, the broken panel comes out and a new one goes in, tempered or laminated or impact-rated to match. The door stays in the opening, which makes it far cheaper than replacing the unit.

What types of business glass doors do you repair?

Aluminum storefront doors, full-glass commercial doors, and steel hollow metal doors, manual and automatic. That covers closers, hinges, locks and panic hardware, glass panels, frame alignment, weather seals, and automatic operators. If you are not sure your door fits, call and describe it.

My door will not lock. Is that a repair or a replacement?

Nearly always a repair. A door that will not lock is usually a latch out of alignment with its keeper, a worn strike, or a sagging pivot letting the door drop. All three are parts-level fixes, not reasons to buy a new door.

Can you secure the opening if the glass is shattered?

Yes, we can. We board the opening on the first visit and take the board off when we come back with the new panel, so the space is never left open overnight waiting on glass.

Does my commercial door need to be impact-rated?

That depends on the property, its wind zone, and what work you are doing. The requirements differ by municipality and building type, so the building department is the place to confirm. We can look at your current door and lay out the options.

How long does a commercial door installation take?

A single standard door is normally one visit. Double doors, automatic systems, and multi-door projects get scoped and scheduled in advance, and we give you the timeline as part of the quote.

Can you work with my property manager or general contractor?

Yes, and often we do. We deal with owners, managers, contractors, and tenants, and we fit into whatever the decision-making structure on the property happens to be.

Do you charge for the on-site quote?

No. The assessment is free for both repair and installation work, and the measurement happens during that visit so nothing has to be repeated.
