Sliding Door Roller, Track & Lock Repair | Boca Raton

When a sliding glass door gets hard to move, sticks halfway, or lifts off its track, the cause is almost always the rollers, the small wheels under the panel that carry its full weight every time it opens. Atlantic Window Repair replaces worn sliding door rollers and repairs the locks, latches, handles, and tracks that fail alongside them for homes and businesses across South Florida. We diagnose the actual fault on site and fix the part that is broken, not the whole door.

Sliding Door Roller Replacement

Rollers are the first thing to go on a sliding door. They sit in the bottom rail and take the entire load of the panel, so after a few years of daily use, and faster near the coast, where salt air pits the metal, they flatten, seize, or lose their bearings. A door that once glided starts to drag, and eventually it takes both hands and a shoulder to move.

We replace single and tandem roller assemblies on standard patio doors and on heavy impact-rated panels, which use stronger rollers to carry the extra glass weight. Where the housing is intact, a like-for-like swap and a fresh adjustment restore smooth travel. For coastal homes, we fit sealed or stainless-bearing rollers that hold up better against salt and humidity. Common roller sizes ride on the truck, so most jobs are finished in a single visit.

Signs your rollers need replacing

• The door drags or scrapes along the bottom track
• It takes two hands or a hard push to slide open
• You hear grinding or squealing as it moves
• The panel lifts, tilts, or jumps off the track
• There’s an uneven gap along the top or bottom rail
• It glides in one section and catches in another

Sliding Door Lock, Latch & Handle Repair

A sliding door that won’t lock is a security problem, not just an annoyance. The latch is the most-replaced piece of hardware on a slider: the mechanism wears out, the strike drifts out of alignment, or the handle snaps off. We repair and replace single-point latches, hook-bolt and foot-bolt locks, and the multi-point systems used on higher-end and impact doors, which engage at several points up the frame for a tighter seal and better security.

We also swap handles to match your existing finish – brushed nickel, oil-rubbed bronze, white, or black – or upgrade the style, install and re-key lock cylinders, and add anti-lift pins or a security bar where a door needs more than its factory latch.

Sliding Door Track Repair and Replacement

Even new rollers won’t run right in a damaged track. The bottom track collects sand and grit, and over time it corrodes, dents, or bends where the panel bears down hardest. We clean and straighten the track, and where a section is worn through, we cap it with a stainless track insert. It is a far cheaper fix than pulling the whole door to replace the rail. When the track is beyond saving, we replace it. We also swap handles to match your existing finish, whether brushed nickel, oil-rubbed bronze, white, or black, or upgrade the style, install and re-key lock cylinders, and add anti-lift pins or a security bar where a door needs more than its factory latch.

Roller Replacement or a New Door? How We Decide

Replacing a door is a much bigger job than replacing what’s worn inside it, and it’s rarely necessary. If the frame is square and the glass is sound, new rollers, a fresh latch, and a cleaned-up track bring the door back to smooth, secure operation for a fraction of replacement cost. We recommend a new door only when the frame is warped past adjustment, the glass unit has failed, or the door is old enough that no compatible hardware is still made, and we tell you plainly which situation you’re in after we’ve looked at it. Whole-door and glass problems beyond the hardware are covered under sliding glass door repair. The screen slider runs in the same channel and collects the same grit, so torn mesh or a bent screen frame gets handled under screen replacement on the same visit.

Why Homeowners Call Atlantic

Every job is handled by our own in-house crew. We’ve never used subcontractors. We keep common roller and latch hardware stocked on the truck, so most repairs finish in one visit, and our own woodworking shop lets us rebuild timber patio-door frames that other shops would tell you to replace. In-home estimates are free, and we work Monday through Friday plus Saturday mornings. Atlantic Window Repair has served South Florida since 2020.

Brands We Service

Sliding doors from PGT, CGI, WinDoor, and Andersen all ride on rollers that flatten and corrode after years of South Florida use, and each brand uses its own latch and roller geometry. We stock and source matching hardware, including Truth Hardware components, so the replacement fits the door instead of forcing in a generic part. We repair and replace rollers, locks, and tracks for these brands and most discontinued models through aftermarket parts.

Frequently Asked Questions

My sliding door is really hard to open. Do I need a new door?

Almost never. Hard, heavy sliding is a classic sign of worn rollers. Replacing them restores smooth movement in the large majority of cases and costs a small fraction of a new door.

How long does sliding door roller replacement take?

Most residential roller jobs are done in a single visit. We carry common roller sizes on the truck; a specialty or discontinued roller may need a short sourcing wait, which we flag on site.

Can you replace rollers on heavy-impact sliding doors?

Yes, we can. Impact panels weigh more and use heavier-duty rollers. We lift and set the panel safely and fit rollers rated for the extra weight.

My sliding door jumps off the track. What’s wrong?

Usually worn rollers that no longer hold the panel in the channel or a bent track. We find which one it is and fix the cause rather than just reseating the door.

My latch won’t catch. Can it be repaired, or does it need replacing?

It depends on the failure. A misaligned strike can often be adjusted; a worn-out latch mechanism gets replaced. We can also add a keyed lock or auxiliary lock to a door that never had one.

Do you carry parts for older or discontinued sliding doors?

We stock a wide range of hardware and source aftermarket parts for most manufacturers, so we can usually match rollers and locks for older and discontinued models.
