Wood is beautiful, durable — and vulnerable to South Florida’s humidity, salt air, and UV exposure. Rotted sills, swollen frames, and deteriorated trim are common problems in coastal homes across Palm Beach and Broward counties. Atlantic Window Repair operates an in-house woodworking workshop, which means we fabricate, restore, and replace wood components ourselves — no subcontractors, faster turnaround, and tighter quality control.
Wood Restoration
Not all damaged wood needs to be replaced. Where the structural integrity is sound, we use professional-grade epoxy consolidants and fillers to stabilize and restore rotted or soft wood — preserving original millwork and reducing replacement costs.
Our restoration process:
- Remove deteriorated wood fiber and dry the area thoroughly
- Apply penetrating epoxy consolidant to harden remaining wood
- Fill voids with two-part epoxy filler, shaped to match the original profile
- Sand, prime, and paint to match surrounding surfaces
- Apply weather-resistant sealant to prevent future moisture intrusion
Frame Repair and Replacement
Window and door frames take the most punishment from weather and moisture. We repair or fully replace frames on single windows, entire elevations, or door openings — working with pine, mahogany, cypress, and composite materials depending on the application and client preference.
Fascia and Exterior Trim
Rotted fascia boards, window casings, and exterior trim are both a cosmetic and structural concern — compromised fascia can allow water behind the wall cladding. We remove, replace, and seal fascia and trim on wood-frame homes, matching existing profiles where possible.
Custom Millwork
Our in-house workshop allows us to fabricate custom window and door components that are no longer available off the shelf — including:
- Replacement sash components for historic or custom windows
- Custom wood sills and stool profiles
- Interior and exterior casings matched to existing molding patterns
- Wood grilles and dividers for multi-lite windows
- Door thresholds and sweeps
Frequently Asked Questions
Can rotted window frames be repaired without full replacement?
Often yes. If the rot is localized and hasn’t compromised the structural integrity of the frame, epoxy consolidation and fill can restore it effectively. We assess each case on-site to determine whether repair or replacement is the better long-term value.
What wood species do you work with?
We work with pine, mahogany, cypress, and composite materials. For coastal applications, we often recommend cypress or composite for its superior rot resistance.
Do you paint or stain after the repair?
Yes. After woodwork repairs, we prime and apply a finish coat matched to the existing surface. For stained wood, we match the stain color as closely as possible.
Can you replicate custom or historical window profiles?
Yes — our in-house workshop can fabricate custom profiles to match existing historical or non-standard millwork. We work from measurements and photos of the original.
